A high number of new companies formed this November means that we are on track to have one of our best ever years for start-ups.
1,417 new companies were formed in Ireland between the 1st and 27th of November - up slightly on the same period in 2014 when 1,360 were set-up. The final figure for all of November this year (1,550) was up 6% on November 2014.
The first 11 months of 2015 have seen over 17,300 new companies registered in Ireland. It would take only approximately 650 start-ups this December to beat last year's total of 17,941.
The highest yearly total for start-ups in the last 15 years was in 2006 when 19,306 companies were formed.
It's unlikely that we will be able to match or better that number this year, however, if just under 1,000 companies are formed this month then 2015 will be the second best year for start-ups in the "noughties" - beating the 18,235 figure seen in 2000.
