Business Barometer

This year has seen over 16,800 individuals become the director of an Irish company for the first time.

Based on CRO filings between 1st January and 13th August, we've seen 16,816 people become the director of an Irish company for the first time.

This figure has no doubt been aided by the starting up of over 11,000 new companies during the same period.

63% of first time directors this year are male and are, on average, 41 years old. The average age of female first time directors this year is 42 years old.

This gender breakdown for individuals has remained fairly constant since 2010 with females making up in and around 40% of first time appointments.
