Over 2,600 company and business start-ups have been recorded so far this month - up 10% on the same period in 2013
Last year saw a return to pre-recession levels for Irish start-ups with 15,617 new companies formed - the highest figure since 2007.
So far this month company start-ups have remained in line with the same period last year with 943 companies formed - this compares to 954 last January.
The most popular industry for company start-ups this month is professional services, which accounts for 23% of new companies formed.
Next on the list are wholesale & retail and construction companies who account for a further 11% and 8% respectively.
There has also been an increase in the number of businesses being set up so far this month with 1,685 having been registered. This is up 17.5% on last January (1,434).
