Company Insolvencies Down 20% on last year's figures
The latest figures show that 533 company insolvencies - an average of 5 per day - have been recorded in Ireland so far this year, this is a drop of 20% on the same period in 2012
These figures illustrate that the drop we saw in Quarter 1 of 2013 has been maintained in April - news that is likely to be welcomed by the various corporate entities currently trading in Ireland as it points to the levelling off of corporate insolvencies.
68% (361) of the insolvencies recorded this year have been liquidations, this compares to 400 in the same period in 2012.
These figures include Court Ordered liquidations. Just 17 of these have breen recorded so far this year - down 48% on 2012's figure (33).
Receiverships this year have dropped by 34% from 247, between 1st Jan and 22nd Apr 2012, to 162 this year.
Examinerships make up the remainder of the insolvencies recorded so far this year (10) - these include high profile cases including B&Q Ireland, Monsoon, Post Publications and Bruscar Bhearna.
