Over EUR55m awarded to Creditors for non-payment of debts in August 2012 - the highest monthly total recorded in almost 2 years, with consumers worst affected.
Corporate and Consumer judgments awarded last month totalled €55.5m, the highest recorded in any month since October 2010 (€88.9m).
386 judgments worth €49.8m (90%) were awarded against consumers this August - an average of just over €129,000 per judgment. That represents a 71% increase on the average value of a consumer judgment in the same period in 2011 (€75,000 approx.).
€5.7m worth of judgments were awarded against companies last month. Almost 40% of these were split between Local Authorities (County and Town Councils) and the Revenue Commissioner.
